Everyone can find a place in Bible study! First Baptist Church offers the very best options for preschoolers, children, teenagers, and adults. Join us Sunday mornings at 9:45 for the class of your choice. Ask a greeter at any entrance to help you find your way.
Adults
Higher Ground is an adult class offering individualized attention. Teacher: Harold Storey, Room 306
YAC (Young Adult Class) a truly young adults class for those in their 20's and early 30's. This class enjoys great fellowship, participating in ministry projects. Teachers: Cherry Snider, Jay and Millie Matthews. Room 302
Builders Class is a co-ed class of young adults married and single, in their mid-30's and 40's. Topical studies and lively discussion characterize this class. Willis Potts teaches this class which meets in the Dining Room, Ground Floor.
Entry Point is a co-ed class for adults of various ages ranging from 35-55. Many are finding their way to the church for the first time. The class studies through a book of the Bible and values shared stories and conversation. Dr. Bob Hortman leads this class.Room 300
Path Seekers is a co-ed class for adults, couple and singles in their 40's early 50's. They enjoy a topical Bible study and engaging conversation. Jay Deville teaches this class. Room: 315
YAGO (Young Adults Growing Older) is a couples class of adults who have enjoyed watching their children grow up and are now enjoying more time with each other. They enjoy lively discussion topical Bible study led by teacher Roger Goss. Room: 311
Dean's List is a co-ed class of adults in their late 50's and 60's. They enjoy an in-depth approach to Bible study and value shared concern for their class members and the community. Dr. Joe Baskin teaches this class. Room: Community Room, Ground floor near the Chapel.
Conundrum Class is for those singles or adult couples in "life's second half" of age, transition and exploration, the Conundrums Class provides an open, welcoming and supportive fellowship where we take the Scripture very seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. Teacher: Dr. Kathy Richardson, Room 301
Women's Class includes women ranging in age from 50-70. They enjoy a caring fellowship, careful Bible study blending lecture and discussion. This class enjoys a rotation of teachers. Room 305
The Choir Class starts promptly at 9:45 and dismisses early so that those who have respnsibilities before Worship are able to prepare and be in their places of service. Teacher: Dr. Jac Whatley. Meets in the Choir Room
Friendship Class is an active group of women in their late 60's and 70's who study the Bible with great joy and insight. Teacher: Miriam Peterson, Room 242
O.M. Cates Class is mostly comprised of retired, but active men who appreciate the scholarly and humorous teaching of Dr. Charlie Whitworth, Room: Conference Room.
Joy Class includes women, mostly retired in their 70's and 80's. They appreciate in depth Bible study, supporting missions, and caring for those in their fellowship and the community. Teacher: Steve Conrad, Room: Parlor on the Ground Floor.
Fidelis Class and Scrap Iron Class have recently merged to offer a co-ed option for older adults ranging from 75-100! They gather for singing, prayer, and a lesson taught by a team of teachers. Room 240
Pastor's Class is a new class that hopes to address the needs of newcomers and those who have not yet found a place in Bible Study. Teacher: Dr. Joel Snider, Chapel
College Class includes young women and men that are college students in town and out of town. Teacher: Hilary Reaves, Room 308
Scrap Iron Bible Class Radio Broadcast can be heard every Sunday morning at 9:00 on WLAQ 1410. Continuing a tradition of over 75 years, this radio broadcast presents a 30 minutes lesson each week.
