Christlike Character: Living According to the Beatutudes
Led by Bill Bigger
Chapel
When we agree to follow Jesus, we discover that the Christian life requires far more than just the initial step of faith. We are called to be transformed-both outwardly and inwardly. Not only must we act differently, we must let God develop new Christlike attitudes within us. As the opening words to Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, The Beatitudes offer us a picture of the values that God desires for His children. As Tom Long notes, "It becomes quickly apparent that the Beatitudes turn the world's values upside down. What is true for those who live in the power of the kingdom of heaven is a flat reversal of what is considered to be true in the culture at large."
